The following images are the latest results of an ongoing series of Kimono paintings which I have been working on for the past eight months. They are the byproduct of a show at the Vermont Arts Council's Spotlight Gallery earlier this year, which I devoted to the Kimono, and which gave me the opportunity to imerse myself in the problem of painting the Kimono. The later pieces seen here are less formally Kimono but share the basic structure while evolving or sliding into looser, more abstract treatments of this form. They are all part of the same family, although it may seem difficult to reconcile some of the more recent works with those done earlier.
They are what they are.
The exploration is not complete.
